Cessna 182P - AOPA 2011 Cross Over Classic Sweepstakes
This is the 8th AOPA Sweepstakes aircraft we have had the honor of
working on. The gold was to create scheme that represented the
serious business application of the aircraft, along with the more fun
weekend use for. This was done by mixing a serious and
conservative burgundy split base and matching dark blue stripe with a
more whimsical gold stripe. As usual, we explored some unusual
design ideas - in this case the crossing design on the tail along with
the uneven white spaces around the gold stripe where it crosses the
other stripes. The entire scheme was applied using paint masks in
one afternoon. The aircraft was painted by Boss Aircraft
Refinishers in Salisbury, NC.
The aircraft was painted using Sherwin Williams Sky Scapes Base
Coat/Clear Coat system. This paint, together with full body paint
masks, allows Boss Aircraft Refinishers to go from primer to finished
product in 4 days.
